LAG BOLTS
Lag Bolts, or Lag Screws, are used mostly on timbers. Lag Bolts (Lag Screws), similar to a Hex Bolt, possess a hex head.
And Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) also has a smooth cylindrical shaft right underneath the head instead of being fully threaded.
However, Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) has a sharp tip for fastening instead of a flat one like a normal Hex Bolt.
The Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) are mostly used to fasten large beams, wooden bridges, and other wood type structures.
But Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) can also be secured in concrete. Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) are driven directly into the wood to tighten two pieces of wood.
Usually, a pilot hole is created for the Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) in the first piece of wood, then the Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) is fastened half-way or one-third into the second piece of wood to ensure a secure fit.
Generally, Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) does not require a nut to secure at the end since the Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) in embedded in the wood.
Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) are usually zinc plated or hot dipped galvanized.
However, depending on the requirements, Lag Bolts (Lag Screws) are sometimes stainless steel or bonze to provide a better resistance to rust.
