TRILOBULAR THREAD FORMING SCREW
Trilobular Thread Forming Screw, or Tri-Lobe Screws, is under the Self-Tapping Screw Family.
The reason why Tri-Lobe Screws are created is because when fastening the screw it does not leave chips or damage metal.
This means that is great to assemble Tri-Lobe Screws into electronics or mechanical areas. Some other common places to see a Tri-Lobe Screw are on bicycles.
Tri-Lobe Screws are mostly driven in slowly into an object to create a uniform torque in the pilot hole.
Tri-Lobe screws are also best at resisting vibration over long periods of time and self-locking due to the triangular threads.
Tri-Lobe Screws are made in various types of materials ranging from carbon steel, stainless steel to titanium. Mostly Tri-Lobe Screws are given a zinc or black oxide coating. Some other customers may also request CR+3 coatings.
